Easy kids' craft -- how to make slime

And now for something a little different...
...how to make SLIME!

I can't take any credit for this post.  My sister did this project with her girls last week, and I thought I would share it with you all in case you might be interested.  This looks like a really fun project to do when it's cold outside and you need something to keep the kids occupied.  If you try it, let me know how it works for you!  Here are her instructions:

Ingredients:

Mix 1 tsp. borax into 1 cup water until thoroughly dissolved:

Mix 1/2 cup glue into 1/2 cup water:

Add food coloring to the glue mixture, if desired:

Mix completely until it reaches the desired color.  The girls initially wanted pink, but they were having so much fun adding the food coloring, that we ended up with gray:

Add the borax mixture to the glue mixture, stirring constantly.  It will begin to polymerize immediately:

Keep stirring until it cleans itself off the bowl.  Some water may remain in the bowl.  You can continue mixing it with your hands, and over time, it will become less like slime and more like putty.  Store in an airtight container or ziploc bag in the fridge.

There you go!  Slime!

This is a messy project but clean-up is fairly easy.  It wipes right up and peels off your hands.
